Waymo To Add Self-driving Ioniq 5 SUVs To Robotaxi Fleet Under New Multi-year Deal With Hyundai
Waymo and Hyundai sign a multi-year partnership deal aimed at adding Ioniq 5 SUVs to the Waymo One fleet.
First phase of there partnership will see the integration of Waymo’s sixth-gen fully autonomous tech into Ioniq 5 SUVs.
On-road testing with Waymo-enabled IONIQ 5s will begin by late 2025 before it becomes available to Waymo One riders.
The all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 5 that will be delivered to Waymo will enable long driving shifts on a single charge.
Its 800-volt architecture will minimize time out of service with some of the industry’s fastest charging speeds available.
Waymo — formerly known as the Google Self-Driving Car Project — and Hyundai Motor Company has signed a multi-year strategic partnership deal aimed at adding all-electric IONIQ 5 SUV to the Waymo One fleet.
The first phase of there partnership will see the integration of Waymo’s sixth-generation fully autonomous technology – the Waymo Driver – into Hyundai’s all-electric IONIQ 5 SUV, which will be added to the Waymo One fleet over time.
Initial on-road testing with Waymo-enabled IONIQ 5s will begin by late 2025 before the self-driving all-electric vehicles becomes available to Waymo One riders in the years to follow.
