The Managing Director of Lagos Metropolitan Area transport authority (LAMATA) Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, on Saturday, inspected the last of five overpass bridges on the highly anticipated LRMT Red Line.
Speaking during the inspection, LAMATA boss said all the infrastructure had been completed, leaving only asphalt works, which she said could be completed in 10 days.
The four already commissioned LRMT Red Line overpass bridges, including Yaba and Ikeja flyovers, are designed to reduce the amount of train and vehicular Interaction.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to commission the Red Line within the first quarter of 2024. When Red Line Rail begins operations, it is expected to carry 500,000 passengers per day.
The Red Line phase 1 has stations at Agbado, Iju, Agege, Ikeja, Oshodi, Mushin, Yaba, and Oyingbo and it traverses a distance of 27 kilometres from Agbado in Ogun State to Oyingbo, Lagos.
