The driverless ID. Buzz AD, designed to drive set routes, features Mobileye’s self-driving system.
The level 4 Robotaxi is equipped with 27 sensors, including 13 cameras, nine LiDAR units, and five radars.
Volkswagen Group autonomous mobility brand, MOIA, has officially revealed the production-ready version of its driverless ID. Buzz AD (AD short for Autonomous Driving), ahead of start of deployment for ride-hailing services in Hamburg, beginning in 2026.
Based on the long-wheelbase all-electric ID. Buzz, the vehicle is part of a comprehensive end-to-end solution that also includes a software ecosystem and services for operators of autonomous mobility services.
“With our fully autonomous complete solution, we are creating a mobility offering that is unique in this form : cities, municipalities, and fleet operators can provide autonomous mobility for all simply and reliably,” says Oliver Blume, CEO of the Volkswagen Group.
“Our driverless ID. Buzz shuttles are part of a fully connected 360-degree package made up of leading technology, an attractive vehicle fleet, intelligent fleet management, and a customer centric booking system—all from a single source and quickly scalable to fleet size on the road,” Oliver Blume adds.
The driverless ID. Buzz AD features Mobileye’s self-driving system. Designed to drive set routes, the level 4 Robotaxi is equipped with 27 sensors, including 13 cameras, nine LiDAR units, and five radars.
Inside, the ID. Buzz AD features easy-to-reach grab handles when boarding, four passenger seats, easily accessible support buttons, and onboard AI to ensure comfort and safety on every ride.
“Our goal is to create intelligent mobility solutions that can be deployed across Europe and worldwide,” explains Christian Senger, CEO of Volkswagen Autonomous Mobility.
