BMW Skytop Roadster Is Headed For Production, Only 50 Units Available For Collectors And It Is Sold-out - autojosh

BMW Skytop roadster is headed for limited production, only 50 units available for collectors and it is sold-out.

Limited-edition Skytop two-seater roadster pays homage to the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL “Batmobile” of the early 1970s.

Just like its legendary roadster ancestor, it takes to the road with the most powerful V8 in the brand’s armoury.

Its 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine, which cranks out 617 horsepower, allowing it to rocket from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds.

German premium carmaker, BMW, has announced a strictly limited production run of 50 examples of the BMW Skytop two-seater roadster for enthusiasts and collectors of automotive masterpieces.

“The BMW Skytop is a truly exotic design and offers a combination of driving dynamics and elegance at the highest level,” said Adrian van Hooydonk, head of BMW Group Design, while announcing the decision at an event hosted by the House of BMW in Milan, Italy.

“To finally be able to announce that this car will be built is like a dream come true. Thank you for the very positive response around the globe and to the passionate team that worked on the project.”

At the event, where the highly desired design study was again on display, BMW also revealed that all examples of the Skytop reserved for enthusiasts and collectors have found their future owners.

While BMW is still mute at the pricing of the limited-edition Skytop, its most recent ultra-exclusive sports car, the 3.0 CSL (also capped at 50 cars), was priced at €750,000 or about $820,000 back in 2022.

First shown in design study form as the BMW Concept Skytop at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2024, the special edition model pays homage to the legendary BMW 3.0 CSL “Batmobile” of the early 1970s.

Based on the existing 8-Series, the Skytop, just like its legendary roadster ancestor, takes to the road with the most powerful V8 in the brand’s armoury — a 4.4-liter twin-turbo engine, which cranks out 617 horsepower, allowing it to rocket from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds.
