Tinubu Orders All Ministries, Departments And Agencies To Purchase Only CNG-powered Vehicles

President Bola Tinubu on Monday May 13th directed the mandatory procurement of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles by all Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The move is also in furtherance of Nigeria’s effort to transition to cleaner energy as CNG-enabled vehicles have been adjudged to produce lower emissions compared to the petrol and diesel-powered ones.





Addressing members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the State House on Monday, President Tinubu affirmed that there is no turning back in the energy reforms initiated by his administration.

The Federal Government has approved the sum of N12.5 billion for the purchase of Two Hundred (200) Toyota Land Cruiser 70 Series ‘Buffalo’ pickup trucks for the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, made this known in a statement, adding that an additional sum of N522 million was also granted to insure the offroad vehicles.

He also noted that the Toyota Land Cruiser Buffalo pickup trucks will be powered by Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), adding that the insurance cover for the vehicles will be provided by NEM Insurance Plc.

Airport Access Gate Charges : FAAN Begins Sale Of e-tags To Motorists

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has informed the motoring public that electronic tags (e-tags) are now available for sale at all the 24 Federal Airports across the country.





In a statement on Friday titled with “Notice Of Sale Of 2024 E-TAGS”, FAAN said this is in line with the presidential directive that mandates the use of e-tags for accessing the nation’s Federal Airports.

“Following the Presidential Directive that all motorists are mandated to pay for e-tags at all the 24 Federal Airports across the country, we wish to inform the general public that e-tags are available for sale from May 17th 2024”

NPA Clears Decade-long Gridlock At Mile 2-TinCan-Apapa Corridor, Reduces Port Access From 10 Days To 1 Hour

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has announced the successful clearance of the decade-long gridlock on the Mile 2-TinCan-Apapa corridor caused by the indiscriminate parking of container trucks.

NPA made this known on its official X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, adding that the now motorable corridor has reduced the travel time for export boxes entering the port from an average of 10 days to less than one hour.

NPA notes that the clearance of the decade-long gridlock on the Mile 2-TinCan-Apapa corridor has not only reduced the cost of commercial transport of goods but also improved the turnaround time for trucks and reduced the cost of imports.
