Porsche Panamera Set A New Record At The Nürburgring
The Porsche Panamera set a new record at the Nürburgring. The pre-production version with the V8 hybrid drive system achieved a time of 7 minutes, 24.17 seconds, which makes this car the fastest car in the Nürburgring’s “executive” segment, according to the organization.
Porsche didn’t reveal any powertrain specifications, but the company said the car used the revolutionary Active Ride suspension, which was first introduced on the Panamera earlier this year.
The record-breaking Panamera—which will likely be called the Turbo S E-Hybrid—used optional 21-inch Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres. The car was also fitted with a new optional carbon fibre aerodynamic kit. Porsche claims the kit reduces front-end lift and creates downforce, though it’s not specified how much.
The time of 7:24 makes this hybrid Panamera five seconds faster than the previous-generation Panamera Turbo S. It is also more than three seconds faster than the previous record holder, the four-door Mercedes-AMG GT63 S. This Panamera is still not the fastest sedan on the Nürburgring because that crown is held by another Porsche, the fully electric Taycan Turbo GT.
Porsche also states that a recording of the circuit will be published soon.
