Driverless Xiaomi YU7 GT Completes The First Officially Timed Autonomous Lap Of The Nürburgring
Xiaomi YU7 GT without a driver on board completes the first officially timed autonomous lap of the Nürburgring.
The high-performance electric SUV rounded the legendary 12.94-mile race track in 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds.
Autonomously navigated all 73 corners of the Nordschleife, managed to adapt to the circuit’s complex surface conditions.
This comes a month after Xiaomi’s test driver piloted a YU7 GT around the race track in a new record time 7 minutes and 22.755 seconds.
A Xiaomi YU7 GT equipped with an optional “Track Package” has completed the first officially timed autonomous lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife, rounding the legendary 12.94-mile (20.832 km) race track in 10 minutes and 29.483 seconds.
Without a driver on board, the high-performance Xiaomi electric SUV autonomously tackled all 73 corners of the Nordschleife while adapting to the circuit’s complex and variable surface conditions.
Xiaomi created the new Nürburgring autonomous lap record on June 8 2026, nearly three (3) weeks after the high-performance YU7 GT made its official debut alongside the new entry-level ‘YU7 Standard’ on Thursday, May 21.
This comes over a month after Xiaomi’s Chief test driver Ren Zhoucan, piloted a YU7 GT with “Track Package” around the race track in a new record time 7 minutes and 22.755 seconds, bettering the autonomous lap by about 3 minutes.
Equipped with Xiaomi’s latest electric powertrain technology and master-tuned chassis, the YU7 GT receives an exclusive widebody treatment with 295mm rear wide tyres, a unified front splitter, active rear diffuser and 24K gold carbon fiber badges.
Powering it is Xiaomi’s latest-generation HyperEngine V8s EVO featuring a front and rear dual-motor system with 1,003 PS. It allows YU7 GT to achieve 0–100 km/h (60 mph) in just 2.92 seconds and an astonishing top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph).
