Comedian AY Rides Driverless Jaguar I-PACE Robotaxi In The US, Reacts To Futuristic Technology
Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has experienced the future of transportation firsthand after taking a ride in a driverless robotaxi in the United States.
The comedian shared footage of the unusual trip online, showing himself seated in the front passenger seat of a Jaguar I-PACE electric SUV operating without a human driver behind the wheel.

In the video, AY appeared fascinated by the technology as the electric SUV navigated the road on its own. His reaction highlighted his surprise at experiencing a ride in a car that could drive itself without human intervention.
“I entered Uber in Atlanta… na Jaguar, but driver no dey! 😳😂 Oyibo don use technology make motor drive itself. Meanwhile, for Africa, our jazz na to dey turn people into yam. 😆🤣😂. When our own juju go upgrade?” he wrote while injecting his usual humour into the experience.
The experience offered AY a close-up look at how autonomous vehicles are increasingly becoming part of everyday transportation in developed countries, particularly in the United States and China.
The Jaguar I-PACE used by the popular comedian is operated as part of Waymo’s autonomous ride-hailing service, which allows passengers to request a ride without a conventional driver controlling the vehicle.
Unlike conventional ride-hailing services, the robotaxi relies on an array of cameras, sensors, radar and other autonomous-driving technologies to perceive its surroundings and make driving decisions.
For AY, the trip offered an opportunity to experience a technology that could reshape urban transportation, particularly as companies continue working to make driverless mobility safer and more widely available.
