The open-top Bugatti roadster doesn’t have a built-in roof, leaving it entirely defenseless against the rainstorm. 

Following a series of Autojosh’s latest publications about the Bugatti W16 Mistral, our feed served up a clip showing the open-top roadster being drenched by a heavy shower during the recently held ModaMiami 2026 car weekend.

Held at the historic Biltmore Hotel from February 27 to March 1, 2026, the ultra-luxury event still shone despite the sudden, dramatic downpour that transformed a high-end showcase into an expensive salvage operation.

Footage captured during the unexpected shower shows the frantic panic of handlers walking alongside the moving W16 Mistral, holding a car cover over the cabin to keep the incredibly expensive leather interior dry.

Despite its jaw-dropping price of around $5 million and all 99 examples selling out before its reveal, the legendary roofless roadster doesn’t have a traditional roof that could have prevented the sudden shower that quickly began to threaten its pristine ivory leather cabin.

The Bugatti W16 Mistral was not the only victim of the unpredictable Miami weather during ModaMiami 2026, which had 400 classics and supercars on the manicured golf course lawns that quickly turned into a swamp, trapping millions of dollars worth of automotive royalty.

Also caught in the flooded lawn were rare Ferraris, priceless vintage classics, and low-slung Lamborghinis, Paganis, and Koenigseggs—all finding themselves stranded in deep pools of water as owners rushed to evacuate the grounds.

Although viral videos showed elite supercars trapped in deep puddles, early reports indicated no significant damage to vehicles, although the severe weather disrupted the event’s final hours and complicated logistics for both organizers and exhibitors.
