Police Impound Fake Armored ‘Beast’ Limo After Trump Look-alike’s Motorcade Stunt Violates Law

Police in the US have impounded a fake presidential limousine after a Donald Trump impersonator used it in a dramatic mock motorcade through New York’s Hamptons, moving as if an actual US presidential motorcade were passing.

But the attention-grabbing stunt quickly ran into trouble when police noticed the vehicle using red and blue emergency lights, which authorities said were being used to move traffic out of the way at intersections, making the stunt illegal.

“The vehicle was coming through intersections in the village of Southampton, with red and blue lights activated and moving traffic off the roadway. That’s illegal,” Southampton Village Police Detective Herman Lamison said, explaining why officers intervened.

The limousine was subsequently stopped, and the driver was issued summonses for violations involving the emergency lights, licence plate and registration. The imitation presidential limousine was later impounded.

“The Secret Service is with it, and it is an active investigation on their part as well,” Lamison said, indicating that the incident had moved beyond a routine traffic stop.

The star attraction was a replica of the heavily armoured presidential limousine famously known as “The Beast.” Built from a Cadillac XTS sedan, the fake presidential limousine came complete with security-style markings, flashing emergency lights and replica presidential seals.

The replica presidential limousine is owned by the Setauket Patriots, a pro-Trump conservative Facebook group. Its founder, James Robitsek, insisted there was “no ill intent whatsoever,” describing the event as a fun drive through the Hamptons featuring a Trump impersonator.
