New Mercedes-Benz S-Class “140 Years. 140 Places” Global Tour Reaches Africa As Nigeria Misses Out
The African continent is currently playing host to the historic Mercedes-Benz “140 Years. 140 Places” global tour, as the three flagship S-Class sedans—named Bertha, Carl, and Gottlieb—shuttle through Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Namibia before reaching South Africa.
So far, the S-Class fleet has visited Egypt, making a historic stop at the Pyramids of Giza, before heading south to Kenya, where it crossed the Equator. The convoy also charted a course through Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Namibia before continuing to South Africa to complete the African leg.
As it did during its tours of Asia and Europe, the German automaker is using the African tour to connect with high-net-worth clients, classic-car collectors, and dedicated brand loyalists. The African route blends rugged endurance driving with exclusive, high-society lifestyle showcases.
Regrettably for local luxury-car enthusiasts, Nigeria has been completely excluded from the physical tour route, despite being one of West Africa’s largest luxury automotive markets and having a long-standing Mercedes-Benz presence and operations.
For local fans, this historic journey can be followed digitally via online tracking platforms, including the official Mercedes-Benz website and social media platforms. The flagship sedan will also soon be available to wealthy buyers through Mercedes-Benz’s authorised distributor in Nigeria, Weststar Associates Limited.
Following the spectacular world premiere of the new flagship S-Class earlier this year, the trio of factory-fresh S-Class sedans began the ambitious 50,000-kilometre journey to demonstrate the durability, luxury, and cutting-edge engineering packed into the brand’s latest pinnacle of automotive luxury.
According to Mercedes-Benz, the global tour is scheduled to officially reach its grand finale in October 2026. After conquering roads across six continents, the three S-Class sedans will complete their global loop and return home to Stuttgart, Germany.
