‘Temu Range Rover’ Jaecoo 7 Tops UK Car Sales In September As Chinese Brands Continue Their Global Rise

British drivers’ embrace of cars from Chinese brands continues to gain strength, with the Jaecoo 7 SUV, dubbed the “Temu Range Rover,” regaining its spot as the UK’s best-selling new car in September.
The Chinese-built SUV recorded 10,813 registrations during the month, outselling the Tesla Model 3 (9,929) and Ford Puma (6,958), according to data published by the Society of Motor Manufacturers & Traders (SMMT).

The September result puts the Jaecoo 7—built by China’s Chery Group—at the top of the UK’s monthly new-car sales table, highlighting its strong performance in the country’s competitive SUV market.
Its “Temu Range Rover” nickname stems from its boxy styling and resemblance to the Range Rover Velar, though the £30,115 SUV is considerably cheaper than the Velar, which starts at over $61,600 and reaches more than $80,000 for top-tier trims like the Autobiography.

Despite only launching in UK showrooms in January 2025, the Jaecoo 7 recorded 26,048 registrations that year, with the SUV peaking as the UK’s fourth best-selling car eight months after its launch, in September 2025, when it recorded 6,489 registrations, according to SMMT data.
For Jaecoo, securing the top position in the monthly sales rankings represents a notable result for the relatively new brand in Britain. Its 10,813 September registrations were more than five times the 2,022 examples registered in August.

Since September 2025, the Jaecoo 7 has consistently featured among the UK’s top ten best-selling vehicles. Together, Omoda and and its sister brand Jaecoo recorded 52,828 vehicle registrations in the first six months of 2026.
The result follows the dual-brand house surpassing 100,000 cumulative UK sales in August in less than two years, with the Chinese-built SUV demonstrating its ability to compete directly with established models for the attention of British new-car buyers.
