A tragic single-vehicle crash occurred along the Coastal Road axis inward Eko Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, earlier on Friday, October 2, leaving one person dead and three others critically injured. Following the crash, operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), alongside compassionate Good Samaritans, reportedly rushed to the scene to initiate immediate rescue operations.

Three critically injured occupants were successfully extricated from the wrecked crossover. They were swiftly transported to Duck-Yard Hospital within the nearby Military Zone for urgent, lifesaving medical attention.

To prevent secondary crashes along the corridor, LASTMA officers and Victoria Island security personnel successfully towed the mangled Lexus RX 350 off the carriageway, fully restoring normal vehicular traffic to the area.

Reacting to the tragic event, LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased. He strongly cautioned motorists against excessive speeding, reckless driving, and a lack of vigilance behind the wheel.

Bakare-Oki stressed that high speed and loss of control remain leading causes of preventable road fatalities. He urged the public and drivers to promptly report accidents or road hazards using LASTMA’s toll-free hotline, 3367.

This incident marks the second major road crash on the Coastal Road Junction in Lagos within 24 hours involving the popular Lexus crossover. It follows a violent collision between a white Lexus RX 350 and a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV on Thursday, October 1.
