Cadillac F1 Driver Bottas Swaps Short Flight For Epic 420km Bike Ride From Malaysia To Singapore

Formula 1 driver Valtteri Bottas has completed an extraordinary 419.67-kilometre bicycle ride from Malaysia to Singapore, swapping a short flight for a four-day cycling adventure ahead of the 2026 Singapore Grand Prix, scheduled for October 9–11.
While most Formula 1 drivers travelled by air on Sunday after the race at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit, won by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, the Cadillac driver chose to explore the country on two wheels.

“Yes I’m riding to Singapore 🚲
On my new @canyon Grail CFR. On the gravel roads less travelled,” Bottas wrote on social media ahead of the journey on his new Canyon Grail CFR bike, which costs between $5,200 and $8,800 (approximately ₦9.5 million to over ₦15 million to own in Nigeria).
During the journey, the Finnish driver navigated paved roads, dirt tracks, plantations and jungle routes on his gravel bike, highlighting his passion for cycling. The adventure also offered a striking contrast to the speed and precision of his day job in Formula 1.

Reflecting on the experience after arriving in Singapore, he said: “I’m really glad I did it because I saw pretty much the whole of Malaysia in a few days and the wild side of it, like the jungles, the plantations, bit of riding at night as well.”
The adventure also came with unexpected encounters with wildlife, with the F1 driver spotting snakes, including a cobra and a python, as well as large lizards and cattle. He also encountered a dog that he said chased him during the ride.

Despite the encounters, the 37-year-old appeared to take the experience in stride. “I overcame some of my little fears, I think, because I don’t really like snakes but I saw a couple and they were really chill!” he told the media in Singapore.
The 10-time race winner also explained that the demanding journey was carefully planned around his Formula 1 commitments. “Everything was really well planned,” he said, adding that the daily distances were arranged to allow him to recover before the race weekend.
