Entry-Level Lexus UX To Be Discontinued By Next Year
The Lexus UX, introduced globally in 2018 and in the U.S. in 2019, is the brand’s smallest SUV. Short for “Urban Explorer,” the vehicle was designed to compete in the subcompact luxury segment.
The UX, once the entry point to the Lexus SUV lineup, is nearing its end. Lexus Japan has officially confirmed that production of the model will conclude in February 2027, marking the first clear sign that this crossover is being phased out.
Australia’s Drive first spotted the production end notice on the Lexus Japan website. The statement reads, “Thank you for your continued interest in our products. We regret to inform you that production of the UX will end in February 2027.”
Lexus cautioned that some configurations may become unavailable before the official end date. The company has not confirmed if production will continue for export markets or announced a successor.
Japan’s scheduled February 2027 end of Lexus UX production marks a clear decline for the subcompact SUV. Since all U.S.-bound models are imported from Japan, this notice creates uncertainty for the American market, especially given the lack of news regarding a successor. With modest sales figures compared to the rest of the Lexus SUV lineup and no signs of a second generation in development, the UX’s future in the U.S. appears increasingly limited.
