A 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X has set a new production car record at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, lapping the 12.42 miles (19.99 kilometres) highway and its 156 turns in 9 minutes and 30.104 seconds
Driven by IndyCar veteran and professional racer JR Hildebrand, the ZR1X’s new record time outpaces the previous 9:53.000 mark—held by a 2022 Porsche 911 Turbo S with the Lightweight Package—by 23 seconds.

“It’s a 12.42 mile course with 156 corners, where the start line is at 9,400 feet of elevation and the finish is in the clouds at 14,100 feet. The nature of the circuit itself is an enormous challenge,” JR Hildebrand said ahead of shattering the all-time production car record at the Pikes Peak on Sunday, June 21.
Corvette ZR1X, an all-wheel-drive electrified hypercar, features a hybrid powertrain that pairs a LT7 5.5L V8 engine (1,064-hp) with a front electric motor (186-hp), generating a massive 1,250 horsepower.

The ZR1X’s electrified powertrain allows it to reach 60 mph from rest in an astonishing 1.68 seconds using its advanced launch control, or 1.89 seconds without it. It achieves a quarter-mile time of 8.99 seconds at 159 mph, with an electronically limited top speed of 233 mph (375 km/h).
Corvette’s new record-breaking race up the 14,115-foot Colorado mountain road—which features zero guardrails—comes 10 months after the ZR1X lapped the Nürburgring in 6:49.275. At the time, that was the fastest lap recorded by an American production-spec car. The record has since been crushed by the new Ford Mustang GTD, which achieved a lap time of 6:40.835.
