Lego And Koenigsegg Just Built The World’s Fastest Lego Car Powered By A V8

The LEGO Group and Koenigsegg have unveiled a life-size, drivable LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear ahead of the launch of the new 1:8 scale LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar set on July 4, which will be priced at £399.99 ($449.99).
Powered by an authentic V8 piston engine, the life-size, drivable LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear is constructed from 327,906 LEGO elements—a project that took teams from LEGO and Koenigsegg more than 9,400 hours to complete. It weighs approximately 1,800 kg, of which 400 kg consists of LEGO elements.

To put their V8 creation to the test, the LEGO Group and Koenigsegg took the life-size LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear to the Goodwood estate in UK, where it set a speed record as the fastest LEGO Technic big build car ever.
At the legendary hill, Koenigsegg test driver Markus Lundh reached 111 km/h (69 mph)—more than double the previous record of 50 km/h (31 mph)—to establish a new category in Goodwood’s history: “LEGO car speed records”.

Markus Lundh, who happened set the hill climb record in the real 1,675-horsepower Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Hypercar in 2025 during the Goodwood Festival of Speed, said:
“Getting the chance to take the driver’s seat of this life-size LEGO Technic build was an incredible privilege. It really did feel like I was handling a real Koenigsegg, bringing back memories of setting the speed record at Goodwood in the Sadair’s Spear in July 2025. It was awesome to set another record on this iconic course – a true testament to the level of engineering the LEGO Technic team has achieved.”
Kasper Rene Hansen, Senior Model Designer at the LEGO Group, said: “Our ambition was to create the most advanced LEGO Technic build we’ve ever produced. Incorporating features such as a working Ghost Mode, a 9-speed sequential gearbox and the unique Triplex suspension system -all firsts for a Technic Ultimate model – pushed the boundaries of what’s possible”
