Koenigsegg officially begins production of its first-ever 4-seater car, the Gemera Mega-GT, 6 years after reveal in March 2020.

Production of the “family car” is now limited to 300 units, with every example already accounted for despite the $1.7 million price tag.

The long-awaited limited-edition Koenigsegg Gemera hypercar has officially entered production, six years after its debut as the world’s first Mega-GT and the first ever four-seater from the Swedish high-performance sports cars maker.

In a Instagram post, Koenigsegg said that the Gemera is now being built alongside the 1,350-hp CC850, adding that the Sadair’s Spear will soon join the two models at the factory.

“The newly updated Gemera line is now running directly side by side to the CC850 and soon Sadair Spear, that presently is built on the original Reodor line. Seeing both models coming alive next to each other gives a fantastic experience,” the firm wrote.

Production of the world’s most extreme “family car” is now limited to 300 units (from the initial 350) worldwide, with every example already accounted for despite the $1.7 million price tag reported at the time of reveal.

At the unveiling of the production version of the 4-seater Gemera in March 2020, the CEO and founder maintained that the new Mega-GT has room that comfortably seats four large adults and store their luggage.

Inside, it features electric seats, four heated and cooled cup holders, front and rear seat infotainment displays, front and rear wireless phone chargers, Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi connection, a three-zone climate system and a premium audio system with 11 speakers.

Koenigsegg had earlier announced the replacement of the original 2.0-liter, twin-turbo inline-three-cylinder engine with an hybrid-assisted twin-turbo V-8 with staggering 2,300 horsepower because only a small number of buyers actually wanted the former.
