Protest : Moment Police Armored Water Cannon Truck Rammed Into NSCDC Truck, Injuring An Officer
Protest : Moment Nigerian Police armored water cannon truck rammed into NSCDC truck, injuring an officer.
The incident occurred on Friday while the police water cannon truck was dispersing crowds of protesters in Katsina State.
An official of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) was lucky to escape with minor injuries after an armored water cannon truck belonging to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) rammed into a truck he was driving in.
Footage of the accident, which has gone viral, shows the moment the speeding water cannon truck crashed into a pickup truck while using high-velocity stream of water to disperse a crowds of protesters in Katsina on Friday.
Unconfirmed reports earlier suggested that the officer seen lying on the ground was shot by the police, though this has been debunked by the Katsina State Police Command.
In a statement, the Katsina State Police Command described the viral video circulating on social media platforms, particularly on X (formerly known as Twitter), as misleading.
“The video is manipulated and taken out of context, as there was no such shooting incident throughout the command during the protest.
“The fact is that the security agent shown in the video is an officer of the NSCDC who fell from a patrol vehicle due to an accident involving the vehicle at the scene of the protest.
“He was immediately rushed to the Federal Teaching Hospital (formerly Federal Medical Center), Katsina, where he was treated and discharged.”
The Katsina State Police Command called on members of the public to disregard this misinformation and always verify information through official channels.
