2024 WAAS : Nigeria Will Move From Car Assembling To Manufacturing Country, NADDC Boss Says
2024 West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS) : Nigeria will move from a Car assembling to manufacturing nation, NADDC says.
This year’s edition of WAAS hosted over 250 exhibitors from Nigeria and around the world as well as over 4500 visitors.
Exhibitors showcased some of their latest products, including Electric Vehicles (EVs), spare parts, batteries, oils and lubricants etc.
The 2024 West Africa Automotive Show (WAAS), which officially came to a close on Thursday May 16th, hosted over 250 exhibitors from Nigeria and around the world as well as over 4500 professional visitors.
This year’s edition of WAAS, held at the Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, saw exhibitors showcased some of their latest products, including Electric Vehicles (EVs), spare parts, batteries, oils and lubricants etc.

In attendance at this year’s WAAS was Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, who was represented by the Director General of National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr. Joseph Osanipin.

Speaking at the WAAS conference on Tuesday 14th May, Osanipin commended the various exhibitors that graced the occasion. He emphasized the importance of advancing the African Automotive Industry through regional integration.
The NADDC boss expressed the Government’s readiness in providing the necessary support towards moving Nigeria from an Assembling Nation to a Manufacturing Nation.
Osanipin also hinted on the signing of a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) between the Nigeria Automotive Manufacturers Association (NAMA) and Automotive Local Component Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (ALCMAN), which is currently being drafted to enable Component manufacturers and Assemblers to work together.
“As NADDC, we are wholly committed to develop and ensure more policies are put in place in order to move Nigeria towards a manufacturing Nation.
In conclusion “I hope we use this occasion to network, exchange ideas and see how we can grow the Automotive Industry further. There is no need for competing, we can benefit more by collaborating”.
