Negotiations Underway Regarding Maserati As Stellantis Is in Talks With Chinese Firms
As part of the possible agreement, the use of Huawei’s Harmony Intelligent Mobility platform is being considered, while one of the options would be a dual-branding strategy. Under that idea, the vehicle would be sold in China under the Maekstro brand, which is related to JAC, while it would be offered as a Maserati in international markets. The first car developed as part of the possible cooperation could be presented at the end of next year, according to sources.
Stellantis said it regularly talks with various companies from the automotive industry to offer its users better mobility options.
The company’s CEO, Antonio Filosa, announced earlier that the company is considering new production partnerships in Italy, which are part of the company’s broader strategy for business turnaround and the realization of a plan worth 60 billion euros by 2030.
The possible tie-up with Huawei and JAC is a continuation of Stellantis’ more comprehensive approach to Chinese manufacturers and technology companies at a time when European automakers are looking to speed up the development of electric vehicles and lower production costs, according to Reuters.
