Commercial bus driver dies, passengers rescued, after 40-feet container falls on three vehicles at Cele Bus Stop in Lagos.
Accident involved a MACK truck conveying twin 20ft containers, a Volkswagen bus, a Toyota Highlander SUV and a Toyota RAV4.
LASEMA said the truck driver lost control due to brake failure while at top speed, before ramming into the vehicles ahead of it.
Passengers inside the commercial bus transported to hospital for further medical attention after being rescued by Paramedics.
LASEMA Response Team (LRT) and Paramedics, FRSC, and Police officers were the responders present at the scene.
A driver of the popular yellow commercial bus lost his life on Thursday after a 40-feet container fell on his Volkswagen bus and two other vehicles at Cele Bus Stop along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos.
A statement by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed that the truck driver lost control due to mechanical fault (brake failure) while at top speed, before ramming into the vehicles ahead of it.
LASEMA further revealed that the passengers inside the commercial bus were transported to hospital for further medical attention after being rescued and attended to by the Agency’s Paramedics.
“On arrival of the Agency’s LRT at the scene, it was discovered that a multiple accident involving a MACK truck with unknown registration number conveying twin 20ft containers, a Volkswagen bus with registration number AKD 489XZ, a Highlander SUV with registration number AGL 366FP and a Toyota RAV4 with registration number AAA 353FH was encountered at the above mentioned location.”
“Unfortunately an adult male (bus driver) lost his life to the incident while the injured victims (4) four in number (3) Three males (1) one female were transported to hospital for further medical attention after being attended to by the Agency’s Paramedics.”
LASEMA Response Team (LRT) and Paramedics, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Police officers from Ilasa division were the responders present at the scene.
