Lotus Emeya Electric Sedan Charges From 10-80% In Record-breaking Time Of 14 Minutes - autojosh

The incredibly powerful Lotus Emeya, available in all its variants, has been on the market for about three years and faces the Porsche Taycan as its main competitor. The EV proves to be capable of charging even faster than previously possible. This makes it the fastest Lotus and one of the fastest-charging EVs at a fast charger.

It’s important to note that the record attempt wasn’t conducted in the European climate but in the Kuwaiti heat by Lotus Al Ghanim, the official dealer there. A red Emeya was plugged into Lotus’s own fast charger, which has a maximum capacity of 450 kW. In the test, the electric sports sedan reached a peak power of 443 kW, almost the maximum the fast charger can deliver.

With this fast-charging capacity, the Emeya, which has a 102 kWh 800-volt battery pack, can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 13 minutes and 35 seconds. On paper, the Lotus always has 420 kW of fast-charging capacity. In Germany, it’s already possible to plug your Lotus into a 450 kW fast charger; the brand is rolling out its fast-charging network to the rest of Europe from there.

Lotus is right when it claims that with this record, the Emeya establishes itself as the fastest-charging Lotus, but there are Chinese brands that go even a step further. For example, both the Xpeng G6 RWD Long Range and the AWD Performance can fast-charge at 451 kW, and the G9 AWD Performance at 525 kW. The Zeekr 7X delivers 480 kW fast-charging power in all configurations.
