Mercedes’ MBUX To Add Human-Like Conversation Support
Mercedes has introduced a new update for its MBUX Voice Assistant. Effective today, Mercedes owners can upgrade their MBUX at no cost, accessing enhanced AI functionalities. This update offers support for more human-like conversations along with AI-driven general knowledge. Both features utilize Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI Service, leveraging the capabilities of ChatGPT and Bing. To initiate a conversation, simply press the designated button on the steering wheel or say, “Hey, Mercedes.”
You can ask all sorts of questions on various topics. The assistant will do a Bing search and then summarize the results in a natural, human-like way. Since it’s context-aware, you can ask a follow-up question. The MBUX Voice Assistant can store a conversation history of up to one hour, so you can pick up where you left off.
As mentioned, the functionality is made available free of charge, and it’s supported in just two languages, English and German. Support for more languages is expected.
