The operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have busted a notorious car theft syndicate that specialises in stealing vehicles from Abuja and reselling them in Lagos State.

FCT Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, said that the suspects, Anthony Chibuzor and Jonas Chikwe, change the chassis number of stolen vehicles before selling them to unsuspecting buyers in Lagos.

Igweh disclosed that luck ran out of the gang when a friend to one of their victims whose car was stolen in Abuja travelled to Lagos for an engagement only to see the stolen car of his friend at a car stand, put up for sale.

After being alerted and urged by his friend to come to Lagos to check the car, the victim confirmed that the car put up for sale was his stolen Toyota Camry. He subsequently informed the FCT Police.
