Porsche Reveals All-electric ‘Mission X’ Hypercar

Porsche reveals all-electric ‘Mission X’ hypercar, a successor to the 918 Spyder dubbed ‘an electric dream car’. 

All-electric Mission X features Le Mans-style doors that open upwards to the front and has mixed-size tyres. 

It is expected to go into production. Porsche wants production model to be the fastest road-legal vehicle around the Nürburgring.

The two-seater all-electric hypercar is the first Porsche model to wear the new Porsche crest that was revealed last week. 

It will be able to charge to 80% in under ten minutes or twice as quickly as the Taycan Turbo S, which takes 18 minutes.

Porsche has unveiled a dramatic-looking two-seater all-electric hypercar called ‘Mission X’ to mark 75 years since the first car to bear the name Porsche, the 356 ‘No. 1’ Roadster, was unveiled on 8 June, 1948.

Dubbed ‘an electric dream car’, the Mission X, a successor to the 918 Spyder, was revealed today June 8th 2023 at a special anniversary celebration at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

“The Porsche Mission X is a technology beacon for the sports car of the future. It picks up the torch of iconic sports cars of decades past: like the 959, the Carrera GT and the 918 Spyder before it” says Porsche AG CEO, Oliver Blume.

“Daring to dream and dream cars are two sides of the same coin for us: Porsche has only remained Porsche by constantly changing.”

Measuring approximately 4.5 metres long or the dimensions of the Carrera GT and 918 Spyder, the Mission X featuring the Le Mans-style doors that open upwards to the front and has mixed-size tyres, with 20-inch wheels at the front and 21-inch wheels at the rear.

The Mission X is expected to go into production. Porsche wants the production model to be the fastest road-legal vehicle around the Nürburgring Nordschleife – a record currently held by the Mercedes-AMG One.

The Mission X is the first Porsche model to wear the new Porsche crest that was revealed last week. It is the German brand’s answer to Rimac’s £2 million Nevera hypercar that is currently the fastest accelerating production all-electric car.

In addition, Porsche said the production model of the all-electric 2-seater with its 900-volt architecture will be able to charge to 80 per cent in under ten minutes or twice as quickly as the Taycan Turbo S, which takes 18 minutes.
