Rare 2-door Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé spotted behind a car carrier trailer in Nigeria.

The Phantom Drophead Coupé is a 2-door convertible version of the 4-door Rolls-Royce Phantom 7 ultra-luxury sedan.

At the time the last examples were made in 2017, the Drophead Coupe was the most expensive Rolls-Royce in the brand’s history

A rare Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé was recently spotted behind a car carrier trailer by eagle-eyed car enthusiast, Car Continent, while likely enroute for delivery somewhere in Nigeria.

First unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2007, the 2-door Phantom Drophead Coupé was based on the 4-door 2003 Rolls-Royce Phantom 7 ultra-luxury sedan.

The exterior of the convertible resembles that of the 100EX, a concept car shown to celebrate the company’s centennial in 2004. At the time of reveal, the then Rolls-Royce Chief Executive, Ian Robertson, said :

“The Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupé marks the next chapter in our history.

“While the saloon continues as the brand flagship, the Drophead leads us in a more informal direction, attracting new buyers to the marque. In the coming years other new models will strengthen the company still further.”

Rolls-Royce presented the new Drophead Coupe Series 2 at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show before the luxury grand tourer and successor to the Rolls-Royce Dawn was discontinued in 2016.

Around the time Rolls-Royce made the very last Drophead Coupe “Last of Last Edition” in 2017, the Drophead Coupe was the most expensive Rolls-Royce in the brand’s history.

Powering the Phantom Drophead Coupe is Rolls-Royce silky smooth 6.75-liter naturally-aspirated V12 with 453 hp, allowing the luxury grand tourer to hit 60 mph in 5.7 seconds and then head on up to 149mph.
