40? This UK Funeral Home Has The Largest Rolls-Royce Collection, $2.7m In Custom Number Plates

When it comes to giving a loved one a grand and final send-off, A.W. Lymn The Family Funeral Service has set a luxury standard that is hard to beat anywhere in the world since it began conducting funerals in 1907.

Based in Nottinghamshire, United Kingdom, this fifth-generation family firm proudly owns and operates 40 Rolls-Royces, including what is described as the UK’s largest private collection of Rolls-Royce Phantoms.

At any given time, A.W. Lymn commands around 40 meticulously maintained Rolls-Royce vehicles. The entire fleet is finished in a sleek, uniform silver livery to transport both the departed and their grieving families in absolute comfort.

The company’s massive lineup boasts both modern and classic models. Notable vehicles include flagship Phantom VII and VIII passenger sedans, six-door stretch limousines, a 1929 Rolls-Royce Phantom II, and a late-1930s Rolls-Royce 25/30 limousine.

But the crown jewels of the lineup are their custom-built Rolls-Royce Phantom VII and Phantom VIII hearses. These vehicles feature stretched wheelbases and modified rear sections equipped with crystal-glass enclosures to showcase the caskets.

Alongside the largest private collection of Rolls-Royces, the company also stands as one of the world’s primary collectors of custom number plates worth $2.7m. Most of these feature three- or four-character combinations, as well as highly sought-after, private number “1” registration plates.

“The first few number plates we acquired included my father’s plate NLR 1, and various other plates such as LJK 520 and TKL 3,” said Matthew Lymn Rose, the current director whose great-great-grandfather founded the company (via Regtransfers).

While their primary role is providing dignified transit for funerals, the company also makes its incredible fleet—which includes Bentley sedans and limousines—available for nationwide events such as high-end weddings and corporate functions.
