929,553 passengers traveled via rail in Q1 2025 – growth rate of +37.65 % versus 675,293 in Q1 2024.

Volume of goods/cargos transported in Q1 2025 stood at 181,520 tons versus 160,650 tons recorded in Q1 2024.

In terms of revenue, N1.95b was received from passengers, N657.03m was collected from goods/cargo conveyed.

A total of 929,553 passengers travelled via Nigerian rail system between January and March 2025 (Q1 2025), according to the latest rail transportation data obtained from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) .

This figure represents a growth rate of 37.65 percent compared to the 675,293 passengers that traveled through the Nigerian rail during the corresponding quarter of 2024

During the period under review, NBS data shows that the volume of goods/cargos transported through rail stood at 181,520 tons compared to 160,650 tons recorded in Q1 2024.

In terms of revenue generation, N1.95 billion was received from passengers during the reference period, which is an increase of 37.36 percent from the N1.42 billion recorded in the same quarter in 2024.

Similarly, N657.03 million was received from goods/cargos conveyed, which is also up by 8.19 percent from N607.32 million in Q1 2024.

In addition, other receipts amounted to N115.68 million, indicating an increase of 355.39% in Q1 2025 from the N25.40 million received in Q1 2024.
