From Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 and BMW i7 M70 to Lexus LM and GAC E9, here are 10 of the best cars unveiled at the Shanghai Auto 2023.

Over 150 new cars have made their global debut at the ongoing 20th Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (or Auto Shanghai 2023), which opened on April 19th and currently have around 1,500 vehicles from Auto brands on display.

This year’s event in the world’s largest automobile market hasn’t only offered visitors the chance to see the latest vehicles, but has also allowed them experience cutting-edge auto technologies, including an unmanned mini bus, an intelligent car cabin and intelligent driving through Virtual reality (VR).

From Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 and BMW i7 M70 to Lexus LM 500h and Yangwang U8, here are 10 of the best cars unveiled at the 2023 Shanghai Auto.





Lamborghini Revuelto

Lamborghini Revuelto finally made its Asia Pacific Debut at the Shanghai Auto 2023. The brand’s first V12 High Performance Electrified Vehicle (HPEV) hybrid super sports alongside the rear-wheel drive V10 Huracán Tecnica, the super SUV Urus Performante, as well as the Urus S where displayed in Ad Personam room.


Lexus LM

All-new 2nd-generation Lexus LM 500h Multi-purpose Vehicle (MPV) also made its official debut at the show. The latest model “Luxury Mover” builds on the original model launched in 2020 to meet customer demand for chauffeur-driven MPV(s) in China.


20th Anniversary Bentley Continental GT S

Bentley kicked-off the celebration of 20 years of the definitive Grand Tourer with the debut of a one-of-one Continental GT S. The unique Continental GT S showcases several bespoke Mulliner features, including commemorative badging and design motifs marking 20 years of the car.


GAC E9





GAC Motor’s presence was also felt at this year’s Auto Shanghai with the reveal of the new flagship Trumpchi E9. Likely as large as the M8 Grandmaster version, the luxurious plug-in hybrid MPV is GAC’s answer to Toyota’s Alphard as well as its luxury brand’s fast-selling Lexus LM luxury Minivan.


2024 Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV

All-new 2024 Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 based on the regular Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV arrives as the Mercedes-Benz sub-brand’s first-ever all-electric vehicle to wear the Maybach badge. As expected, the Maybach EQS 680 features eye-catching exterior and a tech-filled interior that is packed full of luxury features.


BMW i7 M70

The all-new BMW i7 M70 sedan also made its official debut at the show, arriving as the most powerful electric model in the lineup, boasting 650 hp and 811 lb.-ft of torque from two electric motors. i7 M70 will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.


MG Cyberster

Chinese automaker SAIC (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) debuted the all-new new MG Cyberster first showed off in concept form in April 2021. The reborn two-seat electric soft-top comes with scissor doors is one of the biggest unveiling at the Shanghai motor 2023.


Yangwang U8

BYD’s premium brand, Yangwang also unveiled the U8, an all-electric off-roader that surely takes some inspiration from the boxy Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon and Land Rover Defender. U8 comes with unique headlights and taillights and a grille that features the brand’s logo at the center.


2024 Porsche Cayenne

The 2024 Porsche Cayenne full-size luxury SUV also debut with updated looks and new and more powerful powertrains. Updated interior tech includes a standard 12.3-inch infotainment Touchscreen and an optional 10.9-inch touchscreen for the passenger.


VW ID.7

The ID.7 battery-electric sedan has been officially unveiled as Volkswagen’s biggest non-SUV model and the brand’s longest-distance electric model yet, with up to 435 miles of battery range. With a starting price tag of around £50,000, the ID.7 will go head-to-head with Tesla’s Model 3 later this year.
