Driving an ultra-luxury sedan as elegant as a Rolls-Royce Phantom 8 is sure to attract every road user’s attention, including the police in Manchester City, who recently flagged one down and was shocked to discover there was no insurance in place.

In a tweet posted on April 23 2023, Manchester City Centre Police also revealed that the driver of the expensive ultra-luxury sedan tested positive for cannabis while one of the passengers was found in possession of cannabis.

“This Rolls-Royce Phantom came to the attention of #TransportUnit officers in Manchester City Centre. Further checks showed that there was no insurance in place, one of the passengers was found in possession of cannabis and the driver also tested positive for cannabis.”

Driving a car without insurance in the UK is illegal, an offence that can lead to a fixed penalty of $399 and six points on your record. If the case gets to court, drivers could get an unlimited fine or get disqualified from driving.

The latest Rolls-Royce Phantom 8, which starts at around $460,000 before customizations, is the most expensive sedan in the market. But the wealthy who want their cars to standout from the crowd pay over the $500,000.
