The Toyota Mirai Is Turning Out To Be The Worst Resale Value Car The Company Has Ever Made
A Toyota with poor resale value: does that even exist? It certainly does. Anyone looking to park as many young cars as possible in front of their door for relatively little money cannot ignore the Toyota Mirai. It turns out to be a real depreciation machine. Toyota still offers the current second generation of its new hydrogen car. You pay nearly €77,000 for it now. In the extensive range of used cars on AutoWeek, we find a nearly new used Toyota Mirai, just four years old, for considerably less money. It has driven less than 70,000 kilometers and costs only €15,950!
That’s right: a young Mirai is €60,000 cheaper than a new Toyota Mirai. Now, let’s be honest: in 2022, this particular model cost around €70,000. Yet, a whopping €54,000 in value has evaporated in that time. The strength of the Toyota Mirai is also its greatest weakness. It is a hydrogen car. That means it drives like an electric car, but you can simply refuel it just like a petrol car.
