Before Today’s BRT Buses And The 70s Molue Buses, Lagos Had The Leyland Tiger Buses
Before today’s government-owned BRT buses and the 70s Molue buses, Lagos had Leyland Tiger buses in the 1950s – 60s.

The new Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses introduced by the Lagos State Government are fast replacing the now iconic ‘Molue’ buses, which were the cheapest and the most popular means of public transportation in Lagos State between 1970s and the late 2000s.
But before today’s government-own air-conditioned BRT buses and the yellow painted rickety Molue buses that takes you across the city with just N100, the city had the Leyland Tiger buses that were also popular on the Lagos roads.
Lone picture shared that is likely taken between the 1950s and 60s shows passengers trying to board a Leyland Tiger bus, which shuttles between Lagos Island and Yaba area of the state, according to the route on the bus.
Just like the Molue buses that were based on the Mercedes-Benz 911 and Bedford trucks, the Leyland Tiger buses were mostly jam-packed with passengers, with most often seen standing in the bus.
