Footage shared shows Lagos commuters rushing to get a seat or at least a spot to stand in the newly commissioned 800-Passenger Lagos Blue Line Rail electric train during the evening rush hour.
Throughout the world, rush hours, typically from 7 a.m to 9 a.m each morning and 5 p.m to 7 p.m in the evening, are the times when many residents are going and coming back from work, respectively.

Thousands of Lagosians can now avoid the hour-long road traffic in the typically congested city and go for a 28 minutes ride along the 13-kilometers stretch currently being covered by the Blue Line electric train.
The Blue Line was used by 20,000 passengers in the first week since the launch of the first phase between from Marina – Mile 2 on September 4, according to Lagos State’s transport agency, LAMATA.
A full ride across the new train’s eight-mile (13-kilometers) stretch costs N750 naira (currently subsidized to N375) and lasts about 28 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.
The Lagos Rail Mass Transit system is expected to transport 250,000 passengers daily during the first phase of the project and up to 500,000 passengers daily when the entire 27km track from Marina to Okokomaiko is completed.
