Ferrari Destroyed More Than 400,000 Knock-off Items In 2023, Including Three Replica Cars

Ferrari destroyed more than 400,000 knock-off items in 2023, including three replica Ferrari cars.
As part of efforts to eliminate its products that are not authentic, the brand established the Anti-Counterfeiting Reward Project.
The initiative aims to give complementary Ferrari gadget to loyal fans that report fake products to the brand.
Its fight isn’t limited to just counterfeit cars, but also to modified Ferrari vehicles from its assembly lines.
Italian sports car manufacturer, Ferrari, is so protective of its brand that it destroyed more than 400,000 knock-off items in 2023, including three (3) counterfeit cars and 11,500 ‘Prancing Horse’ labels, according to the info graph from the brand sighted by Autojosh.
The Maranello-based carmaker said “counterfeiters are becoming ever more capable,” noting that some high-end Ferrari models created from the chassis of cheaper cars are sold at very high prices at auctions.
As part of efforts to eliminate its products that are not authentic, the brand established the Anti-Counterfeiting Reward Project, an initiative that aims to give complementary Ferrari gadget to loyal fans that report fake products.
“This project is aimed at encouraging the reporting of instances of counterfeiting, with fakes being reported to us by anyone who wants to help us combat this phenomenon,” Paolo Lorenzi, Intellectual Property Senior Legal Counsel, explains.
“Once our own checks confirm it, they will receive from us an official thank you for helping us in the fight against counterfeiting,” confirms Lorenzi, “and will receive a complementary Ferrari gadget too.”
Speaking on seven 1957 replica cars created for Michael Mann’s movie about Enzo Ferrari’s life, Ferrari said these cinematic cars were destroyed soon after filming was finished, which was part of agreement between the two parties.
But brand’s fight isn’t limited to just counterfeit cars, but also to modified Ferrari vehicles from its assembly lines, noting that “whoever does so must understand that such a car will never be admitted to official events.”
