Two American female tourists blamed GPS after wedging a Nissan Juke SUV between two walls in a seaside town.

Driver ventured off the road and onto a path designed only for pedestrians while trying to get to St Catherine’s Island.

Mechanic who helped remove the car said that the women “were talking about cutting up the car and scrapping it.

To free the car, the mechanic and his colleagues used a winch located at the very top of the path to pull the car backward.

Two female American tourists have blamed their Satellite Navigation System after wedging a brand new Nissan Juke SUV onto a narrow footpath in a seaside town for a week.

Citing local media reports, Carscoops said the driver ventured off the road and onto a path designed only for pedestrians while trying to get to St Catherine’s Island at a nearby beach.

“No one’s ever got a vehicle down there before,” local mechanic Stephen Lowe who helped remove the stuck vehicle said, adding that the American women “were talking about cutting up the car where it was and scrapping it. It’s a brand new car as well.”

“[The walls were] touching on both sides of the car. They got it wedged and they just put more power on. There’s normally a bollard on the footpath but that was out at the time, and they went onto the footpath”, the mechanic added.

To free the car, Lowe and his colleagues had to use a winch located at the very top of the path to pull the car backward, a process of pulling the Nissan free took more four and a half hours.
