Lagos Blue Line Has Transported 2 Million Passengers Since Operation Began A Year Ago
Lagos Blue Line has provided 2 million passengers with a safe and speedy ride since commencement a year ago.
The first phase of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue spans 37-kilometre from Marina to Mile 2.
It covers five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina.
In August 2024, LAMATA increased the daily trips from 54 to 72, reducing travel time from about 30 to 18 minutes.

The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line operated by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has provided two (2) million passengers with a safe and speedy ride since full passenger operations began on 4th September 2023.
The Managing Director of LAMATA, Engr. Mrs. Abimbola Akinajo, made this known in a statement while reflecting on the significant impact that the electrified Lagos Blue Line has had on Lagos and its residents in the last one year.

“Over the past year, the Blue Line has served an impressive two million passengers without significant disruptions. In August 2024, we increased the daily frequency of trips from 54 to 72, reducing travel time between Marina and Mile 2 from about 30 to 18 minutes.
“As we look ahead, LAMATA remains dedicated to expanding our rail network and improving the overall transportation experience in Lagos. We are grateful for the continued support of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led-administration, our partners, and the people of Lagos,” Akinajo added.

The first phase of the Blue Line Rail project, which spans 37-kilometre from Marina to Mile 2, has continued to provide a reliable and efficient transportation option for commuters in Lagos State.
It covers five stations at Mile 2, Suru-Alaba, Orile Iganmu, National Theatre and Marina. The journey between Marina to Mile 2 lasts about 18 minutes, including 90-second stop at each station.
