Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 Wins International Truck Of The Year 2025

Specialized commercial vehicle journalists from 24 European countries named the electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 the International Truck of the Year 2025.
This is the most important award in the industry. In the explanation, the jury praised the innovative, overall technological concept of the long-haul truck, which impressed with its modern drive technology, high energy efficiency and range of 500 kilometres without refuelling. This was confirmed during the “eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024” – a more than 15,000-kilometer long, all-electric development journey through a total of 22 countries, with a 40-ton tow train mass. On the tour’s many daily stages, it would even theoretically be possible to achieve a range of more than 600 kilometres without recharging. On the entire route, two trucks were filled exclusively at public charging stations.
Karin Rådström, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Trucks, received the award at the IAA Transportation 2024 event in Hanover from the chairman of the jury, Mr. Gianenrico Griffini.
“From the very beginning, Mercedes-Benz Trucks designed the eActros 600 as an electric truck. The result is a state-of-the-art battery-powered electric vehicle that can be used in a wide range of long-haul applications,” stated Gianenrico Griffini, summarizing the jury’s decision.
“We are proud and excited that the jury chose our eActros 600 as the ‘International Truck of 2025.’ Almost all members of the jury have already spent time behind the wheel, testing the eActros 600 on roads across Europe – so they had the opportunity to personally experience the capabilities of this truck. Today is a day of pride for the teams that have worked so hard in recent years to make this truck a market leader,” says Karin Rådström.
According to the rules of the jury, the title is awarded every year to the truck that has made the greatest contribution to innovations in road transport in terms of efficiency, emissions, safety, vehicle dynamics and comfort. Since the introduction of the International Truck of the Year award in 1977, Mercedes-Benz trucks have won the title a total of ten times. This year, the manufacturer impressed the jury for the first time with an electric vehicle.
Many journalists participating in the “eActros 600 European Testing Tour 2024” by Mercedes-Benz Trucks praised the advanced aerodynamics of the new driver’s cab, the ProCabin. Improved aerodynamics is especially important for electric trucks in long-haul transport since air resistance is one of the main factors affecting energy consumption. In addition, more energy can be recovered during recuperation due to reduced air resistance, leading to greater range.
