Audi Is Thinking About Constructing A Manufacturing Plant In The US

Audi is considering building its first factory in the United States. They are considering this option in order to reduce the consequences of tariffs introduced by US President Donald Trump on goods from the European Union, Handelsblatt learns, citing anonymous informed sources.

According to the newspaper’s sources, Audi could build a plant in the city of Chattanooga in the American state of Tennessee, where the factory of its parent company, Volkswagen, is already located.

Such a solution would allow significant savings in time and costs, as Volkswagen would provide the infrastructure and construction plans.

The estimated value of the potential investment amounts to several billion dollars, and the construction would take more than two years.

The planned capacity of the factory would be between 150,000 and 200,000 cars per year. The final decision on construction will be made by the Volkswagen Group after negotiations between CEO Oliver Blume and President Trump’s administration, sources added.
