Audi’s New China-only ‘AUDI’ Car Brand Launches Its First Model – The AUDI E5 Sportback

Audi’s premium New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand, AUDI, has debuted its first production model – the AUDI E5 Sportback. 

China exclusive car brand with an illuminated “AUDI” logo spelled in four capital letters but without the classic “Four Rings”.

Developed in partnership with Chinese brand, SAIC, the AUDI E5 Sportback offers luxury tailored to Chinese lifestyles and tastes.

All electric AUDI E5 merges Audi’s superior driving performance and premium quality with an AI-powered connectivity experience.

AUDI E5 will be available in four electric variants while market introduction will begin in Chinese market in summer 2025.

Audi’s premium New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand, AUDI, has debuted its first production model – the AUDI E5 Sportback, nearly 5 months after launching the China exclusive car brand with an illuminated “AUDI” logo spelled in four capital letters but without the classic “Four Rings”.

First previewed as the AUDI E concept car last November, the four-door, fully electric AUDI E5 Sportback made its debut at the Volkswagen Group Media Night, ahead of Auto Shanghai 2025.

Developed in partnership with Chinese brand, SAIC, the AUDI E5 Sportback offers luxury tailored to Chinese lifestyles and tastes, merging Audi’s superior driving performance and premium quality with an AI-powered connectivity experience.

“Audi’s DNA and engineering excellence is blended with China’s digital ecosystem and innovations, specifically tailored for our tech-savvy customers,” says Fermín Soneira, CEO of the Audi and SAIC Cooperation Project.

Built on the new jointly developed Advanced Digitized Platform, the AUDI E5 offers a power output of up to 579 kilowatts and a maximum electric range of 770 kilometers from the 100-kWh battery-pack.

Four distinct powertrains offer rear-wheel or quattro drive for a dynamic driving experience, allowing the E5 to reach 60 mph from rest (100 kilometers per hour) in 3.4 seconds.

Inside, it gets an immersive 27-inch pillar-to-pillar 4K display, an AI-powered touch- and voice-enabled avatar that aims to humanize digital interaction

E5 is equipped with LiDAR-based AUDI 360 Assisted Driving system designed to offer a safe and relaxing driving experience. Its Parking Assistance also supports multiple types of parking spaces (vertical, diagonal, parallel parking).

Audi said that the E5 will be available in four fully electric variants while market introduction will begin in lucrative Chinese market in summer 2025. Following the E5, Audi said two more all-electric AUDI models will be launched in 2026 and 2027.
