Xiaomi Sells Half A Million SU7 Electric Vehicles
Xiaomi unveiled the SU7, its first electric and first car in general, on March 28, 2024, and deliveries began on April 3. 28 and a half months have passed since then, and the Chinese company is now marking and celebrating sales of more than 500,000 units.
This would be a major milestone for any automaker, but it’s even more impressive for Xiaomi, which has made a huge success with its debut in the automotive industry.
The SU7 could easily be the fastest Chinese electric car priced at over 200,000 Chinese yuan, roughly $30,000, to reach 500,000 units sold. To celebrate this achievement, Xiaomi is giving away 10,000 1:43 scale SU7 model cars to people who book a test drive, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Interestingly, although the YU7 was somewhat overshadowed by the SU7 when it launched last year, the recently refreshed SU7 is still the most popular model in the company’s lineup, accounting for 67.3 percent of total sales in July. A total of 21,044 units were sold.
Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun revealed last month at the launch of the SkyNomad that cumulative sales of all the company’s models had exceeded 700,000 units. Goldman Sachs analysts expect the company to ship 500,000 cars this year, 770,000 in 2027, and more than a million in 2028.
