Massive Recall At Stellantis As Over 800,000 Vehicles Are Affected
Stellantis is recalling 848,511 U.S. vehicles—including Jeep, Ram, Dodge, and Chrysler models—due to a radio software bug that can disable the rearview camera display. The issue will be resolved via an over-the-air update, with owner notifications beginning in September.
Affected Models And Planned Fix
Over 15 Stellantis model variants are involved in this recall. The list is as follows:
- 2026-27 Chrysler Pacifica, Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid and Voyager minivans
- 2026-27 Dodge Charger vehicles
- 2026 Jeep Cherokee, Compass, Gladiator, Grand Cherokee, Grand Cherokee L, Grand Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer L, and Wrangler vehicles
- 2026 Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups and ProMaster and ProMaster EV vans
The recall isn’t on the NHTSA site yet, so specifics on intermittent issues or affected trims remain unclear until the full report is released.
Fortunately, the fix is a simple over-the-air update that doesn’t require a dealer visit. Owners should watch their media screens for update prompts, with official notices arriving by mail in September.
If your camera fails, use extra caution while reversing to avoid collisions due to reduced visibility.
Stellantis is unaware of any accidents or injuries linked to this recall.
Stellantis 2026 Vehicle Recalls: Key Safety Actions Overview
Stellantis has issued 27 recalls so far in 2026, with this one ranking as the third-largest of the year. The only two that exceeded this one in scope both affected over a million models.
| Biggest Stellantis Recalls of 2026 | |||
| Rank | Affected Component/s | Recall Population | Date |
| 1 | Improperly installed seat belt buckle anchor | 1,271,294 | July 30, 2026 |
| 2 | Power steering wiring could catch fire | 1,076,999 | June 4, 2026 |
| 3 | Radio software/rearview camera image | 848,511 | August 17, 2026 |
| 4 | Inoperative trailer lighting and trailer brake failure | 456,287 | February 2, 2026 |
| 5 | Side airbags may not deploy properly | 419,035 | May 21, 2026 |
Among these five recalls, the power steering wiring issue is arguably the most critical, as it carries a significant fire risk for both the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator. The automaker is currently facing litigation following an incident in Illinois in which a Gladiator caught fire—one of 10 reported fire-related incidents involving these vehicles.
Although Stellantis has recorded the second-highest number of U.S. recalls this year, the total remains considerably lower than Ford, which has initiated 63 recalls throughout 2026.
