Kia’s Sales Are Soaring, Shattering Two Major Records In One Month
Kia America has significant cause for celebration, as the brand recently achieved its highest June sales volume on record. Furthermore, year-to-date performance has reached 430,727 units, marking an unprecedented milestone for first-half sales.
The manufacturer’s success was bolstered by rising fuel costs, which prompted a shift in consumer preference toward hybrid vehicles. Sales of eco-friendly models surged by 187% compared to the previous year, primarily driven by robust demand for the Sportage Hybrid (up 165%), the Sorento Hybrid (up 145%), and the Carnival Hybrid (up 54%).
Regarding specific model performance, the Sportage emerged as the top seller in June, with 15,995 units sold—a 26.6% increase over the prior year. The redesigned Telluride followed closely with 11,432 units, representing a 23.7% growth.
The K4 secured third place with 10,553 units sold, reflecting an 8.7% decline year-over-year. In contrast, the K5 demonstrated positive momentum, with sales rising 13.6% to reach 6,378 units.
Performance in the electric vehicle (EV) segment remained varied; EV6 sales experienced a slight decline to 584 units, while the EV9 saw a 42.3% increase, totaling 1,299 units.
Analyzing the broader performance, Kia has recorded 94,907 sales for the Sportage during the first half of the year, while the Telluride and K4 remain closely matched with 73,602 and 73,579 units sold, respectively. These models are followed by the Sorento at 49,348 units and the Carnival at 40,068 units.
Notably, the Carnival minivan experienced a 34.4% increase in June sales and a 20.9% growth over the first six months, demonstrating sustained market demand for the segment. Furthermore, Kia successfully phased out the Soul model without incurring a decline in overall sales volume, an encouraging outcome given that the vehicle recorded 4,737 sales in June 2025 and 26,126 units during the first half of that year.
Eric Watson, Vice President of Sales for Kia America, stated, “The results illustrate our ability to react to shifting market demands by resetting our showrooms with the right mix of ICE, hybrid, and electrified models. As we enter the second half of the year, we expect our momentum to continue, driven by strong anticipation for the all-new Seltos, which will begin full-scale sales nationwide in July, alongside the continued success of the 2027 Telluride, the expansion of our hybrid lineup, and the launch of the all-new EV3”
