BYD’s Yangwang 10,000th milestone vehicle, the U8 SUV, delivered to the “Richest Teacher In China”.

Yangwang U8 SUV was launched on September 20th 2023, with a starting price of 1.098 million yuan ($150,800).

Its unique capabilities includes 360-degree tank turn as well ability to wade and drive on water under emergency scenarios.

BYD’s ultra-luxury electric vehicle brand, Yangwang Auto, is celebrating a new production milestone as its 10,000th vehicle rolls off the assembly line, over 28 months since it launched on January 5, 2023.

The milestone vehicle is the Yangwang U8 off-road SUV, which is Yangwang’s first model. U8 was launched on September 20th 2023, with a starting price of 1.098 million yuan ($150,800).

On its Weibo account, the Chinese luxury electric car brand announced that its 10,000th vehicle has been delivered to Yu Minhong, founder of Chinese education group New Oriental. Yu, with an estimated wealth of $1.1 billion, is known as the “richest teacher in China”.

“Beyond the limit, unprecedented! The cumulative sales of Yangwang Auto exceeded 10,000 units, setting a new record for China’s million-level cars. On the road of Yangwang, I am grateful for my companions,” Yangwang said while announcing the new milestone.

The Yangwang U8 SUV is known for its unique capabilities, including its ability to do 360-degree tank turn, stable driving even with a punctured tire as well ability to wade and drive on water under emergency scenarios.

Yangwang’s current models includes the U7 sedan, the U9 – a two-seater electric supercar with a starting price of RMB 1.68 million and the U8L, which is a stretched variant of the already impressive U8 ultra-luxury SUV

The Yangwang U8L made its public debut last month at the ongoing 21st Auto Shanghai 2025, officially known as the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition.
