The Lagos State Police Command has again warned motorists and drivers against covering of vehicle number plates (Vehicle Registration Plate), stating that the act violates the National Road Traffic Regulations.

In post on X.com on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, noted that punishment for this act ranges from fines to prison terms.





Hundeyin wrote :

“Covering of number plates is against the provisions of the National Road Traffic Regulations. When convicted, punishment ranges from fines to prison terms. Ignorance is not an excuse under the law. Above all, forewarned is forearmed!”

After weeks of engineering, speed and weight tests, the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced the commencement of trial runs for the Red Line Rail project, ahead of start of passenger operations in the last quarter of 2024.

There will be 4 trips per day during the trial runs for the Red Line Rail project – 2 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon, according to Jubril Gawat, a Senior Special Assistant on News Media to the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

This operational test run follows test runs that successfully simulated, demonstrated track sharing arrangement with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) involving all station officers and officials.

Ogun State-based armored vehicle specialist, PROFORCE Defense, has launched its latest Made-in-Nigeria Mine Resistant Ambush Protected Vehicle (MRAP), named Proforce ‘PF Hulk’.

Proforce says that the all-terrain all-wheel-drive Armoured Vehicle is capable of moving 10 personnel or military supplies through smooth and rough terrain while providing necessary protection.

With protection level of 3a/3b, Autojosh understands that the Proforce ‘PF Hulk’ MRAP should be able to withstand 7.62mm armor-piercing rounds and grenade and mine blast of up to 8 kg, plus 155 mm High Explosive at 60 m.

Vehicle importation into Nigeria was down 60.4 per cent year-on-year to 10,991 units in the first six months of the 2024, a report of the just concluded quarterly meeting of the Nigerian Port Consultative Council (NPCC) reveals.

The report, which reflects the impact of the naira depreciation and high duties stated that “Vehicle Traffic shows a total 10,991 units of vehicles was handled during the period under review, indicating a drop of 60.8 per cent from 28,024 units in 2023.”

During the period under review, the number of ships that called at the nation’s Seaport also fell by 4.3% to 251 from 275, though the Gross Tonnage of ships rose 6.9%, thanks to the berthing of bigger vessels, especially at Lekki Port.
