2022 Ford Focus Facelift Unveiled With SYNC 4 Infotainment System - autojosh

Ford is rapidly thinning its European workforce. The elimination of thousands of jobs has already been announced, but it may not stop there. According to the chairman of the general works council of the Ford plant in Cologne, more jobs will be lost in Europe.

This is evident from the reports going around. Last year, Ford announced that it would eliminate 3,800 jobs in Europe, including as many as 2,300 in Germany. Earlier this month, it emerged that on top of those 3,800 jobs, Ford is eliminating up to 1,600 jobs in Valencia, Spain. It may not stop there. The chairman of the general works council of Ford Werke, the Ford plant in Cologne, says that Ford is further reducing its workforce in Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom.

It is not yet clear when and how many jobs will be lost and where. Ford is currently going through a tumultuous period. It has taken the Fiesta out of production, and the Focus will disappear in the foreseeable future. In the form of the Explorer, Ford has presented a new electric SUV, but it has used Volkswagen’s MEB basis for it, as well as for the yet-to-be unveiled and possibly Capri sportier alternative to that car. As far as European sales go, Ford has seen better days. In the first four months of this year, Ford sold 109,346 cars in the EU, a whopping 15.5 percent less than in the same period last year.
