To further enhance national security and curb revenue loss, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) have commenced an intensive vehicle database integration of the two government agencies.

The productive collaboration was effected during the official visit of the Acting Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to the Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Dauda Ali Biu, at the national headquarters of the Commission on Thursday.





Speaking during the visit, Adeniyi stated that the effective consolidation of existing vehicle information in the National Vehicle Identification Scheme (NVIS) database domiciled with the FRSC and vehicle database of the NCS will curb vehicle smuggling, improve revenue generation and enhance national security.

The Ogun State Government has began the conversion of gas- and diesel-powered State Mass Transit vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) to help reduce the cost of transportation, following the hike in pump price of petrol.

“We have commenced the conversion of state mass transit buses, including staff buses and public transport buses currently in circulation, to CNG to reduce the cost of transportation by charging rates that are commensurate with what obtained before subsidy removal”, said Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.

“The CNG project demonstrates the commitment of our Administration to a greener environment, and it ensures affordable means of transportation in the State, especially in the wake of the removal of subsidy on fuel by the Federal Government in May.”

Lanre Shittu Motors, one of Nigeria’s leading automobile dealers, has announced plans to start exporting Nigeria-assembled “LSM-branded” vehicles to other West African countries.





The company also said before the end of the year, it will unveil battery-electric and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered vehicles assembled at its plant in Ogun State.

Managing director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Mr. Taiwo Shittu, who disclosed this in an interview with some journalists in Lagos, said :

“We have brand new vehicles coming in very soon. They would be in our brand name, LSM.”
