Cornel Osigwe, the Head, Corporate Communications and Affairs at Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing has shown off the automaker’s first-ever all-electric vehicle ahead of official launch by the indigenous company.

In an unedited video posted by Cornel on his official Facebook page, the company’s PRO was seen test-driving the new Innoson Electric Vehicle at the company’s car park.





Since sharing the video, Cornel said that IVM has received hundreds of calls and upfront payment from interested clients who wants to be the first set to drive the Innoson Electric Vehicle.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) says it has arrested 823 drivers, administered 923 fines, impounded 189 vehicles and confiscated 634 licenses and vehicle particulars for traffic light, zebra crossing and other violations, within the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In a statement, FRSC said that the special enforcement patrol tagged ‘Operation Karara’ was aimed at reducing the high incidence of traffic light violations that contribute significantly to road crashes and gridlocks in the nation’s capital.

The arrested drivers were charged with various offenses, including traffic light violation, dangerous driving, road marking violations and reckless driving.

Also during the week, the Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Shehu Mohammed warned fleet operators, commercial drivers and private vehicle owners to avoid night trips, noting that they are not only unsafe, but utterly dangerous.





While emphasizing that night trips are often characterised by poor visibility and sleeping on wheels, he noted that his crash occurred as a result of a combination of factors namely, speed violation and fatigue.

He warned that in as much as the Corps does not have the statutory powers to ban night trips, it has become very critical for patronisers of night trips to retrace their steps and plan their journeys in the day time.

The Ogun State government has announced that One Hundred (100) brand new Compressed Natural Gas-powered 18-seater Toyota Hiace buses will be made available to transporters to cushion the effects of transportation in the state.

Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun disclosed this at a meeting with transport unions on Monday, where measures to tackle the rising transport fares in the state caused by the recent hike in the pump price was discussed.

During the meeting in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, Abiodun also said that the Federal Government would make available 20 CNG-enabled buses and 500 conversion kits to the state government during the week.
