LASTMA Arrest Fake Officer Who Confessed To Making ₦15,000 To ₦25,000 Daily From Motorists - autojosh

LASTMA arrest fake officer on Oshodi bridge who has been extorting both commercial and private motorists.

Suspect confessed to targeting high-traffic routes along Ikorodu Road and the Oshodi to Mile 2 Expressway.

45 year old suspect also admitted to making between ₦15,000 to ₦25,000 daily from his illegal activities.





Following a sting operation by the Surveillance and Monitoring Unit of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Agency has arrested one Mr. Adewunmi Taiwo on the Oshodi Bridge who has been intimidating and extorting funds from both commercial and private motorists in the vicinity.

In a statement, LASTMA said that the suspect, who operates a white Hiace Coaster Bus with the license plate KJA 724 YJ and has been posing as one of its official, confessed to misusing the uniform to harass and extort motorists.

During interrogation, the 45 year old suspect confessed to targeting high-traffic routes along Ikorodu Road and the Oshodi to Mile 2 expressway and admitted to making ₦15,000 To ₦25,000 daily from his illegal activities.

Commenting on the incident, LASTMA General Manager Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki said that a Surveillance and Monitoring Unit was mobilized to apprehend the suspect following multiple reports regarding extortion linked to the Toyota Hiace Bus.

“We are unwavering in our commitment to uphold LASTMA’s integrity and professionalism,” affirmed Mr. Bakare-Oki.

“I take this opportunity to issue a stern warning to individuals who exploit LASTMA’s identity for unlawful gains : any attempt to tarnish the agency’s reputation will be met with the full force of the law as the man will be charged accordingly.”
