LEAKED: China’s MIIT Shares First Images Of Volvo EM90 Minivan Ahead Of November 12 Reveal

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) shares first images of its upcoming Volvo EM90 MPV.

Volvo had earlier shared teaser images of its upcoming EM90 Electric Premium MPV ahead of 12 November debut.

Swedish brand already revealed that pre-order of the EM90 will start for customers in China on the same date.

Volvo EM90 will rival Lexus LM, Zeekr 009 and Denza D9 – these three models already available in the lucrative Chinese market.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has leaked the first images of Volvo Cars’ upcoming 2024 Volvo EM90 Electric Premium MPV, ahead of its global debut on 12 November 2023.

As reported by Motor1, each car that goes on sale in China must get the stamp of approval from MIIT. The government body is known for publishing pictures of vehicles to be sold in China on its website before the market launch, as seen in the case of EM90.

Geely-owned Swedish automaker, Volvo Cars, has already revealed that pre-order of the upcoming EM90 will start for customers in China on the same date.

As expected, it appears the EM90 will be based on the Zeekr 009 Minivan, though it has a redesigned front fascia with different headlights. Both brands are owned by Geely, the Chinese automotive giant that also controls Lotus and Polestar.

Per the information published on the MIIT website, the EM90 will be offered with 19- and 20-inch wheels while power comes from a rear-mounted electric motor with 268 horsepower.

Volvo had earlier teaser images snapped from a home that shows the reflection of EM90’s running LED taillights on the curtains while another reveals the side front of the Minivan, including its silver and black wheels.

Volvo’s EM90 will likely rival premium MPVs like the 2024 Lexus LM, the Zeekr 009 and the Denza D9 – three models that are already available in the lucrative Chinese market.
